Jan Vikas Society is a registered public trust since 1996 that works for the welfare of street children and rag-pickers in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai. It constantly tries to enlighten society and conscientize it on the growing phenomenon of street children and rag pickers and the problem faced by street children and rag pickers
It has rehabilitation centres for street children & rag pickers at Koperkhairane, Panvel and Taloja. It offers a supportive environment to these unfortunate one to cope with the situation that they are facing. Besides feeding, clothing and sheltering them., it imparts literacy and vocational training.
It also provides Medical Assistance to the poor and educational support to needy students
About Jan Vikas Society
Jan Vikas Society (JVS) is a charitable trust registered under the Bombay Public Trust Act 1950 bearing registration number F – 18867/ Mumbai. It’s pioneering work commenced in 1996. JVS is the first organization that committed itself to the care and development of street-children and rag pickers in Navi Mumbai.
Mermier Bal Ashram
Mermier Bal Ashram, its first rehabilitation centre for street children, rag pickers and orphans from Navi Mumbai and Mumbai has completed its twenty five years of service. It is situated in Koparkhairane, Navi Mumbai.
The centre houses children in the age group of 6 years to 18 years. It can house 50 children. The centre provides holistic care for the children. It takes care of the housing, nutritional, educational and psychological needs of the children admitted at the center.
